The Republic of Two

Last week I had the pleasure of making an appearance in the film The Republic of Two, written and directed by Shaun Kosta, and starring Janet Montgomery and Brent Bailey. It was an amazing day. The location was a beautiful log cabin on top of a mountain in Topanga. I played one of the family members at a Christmas gathering, and I got to play a little guitar in one of the scenes. Fun day. Huge thanks to Shaun for having me!

Summer Update...

Hope everyone's having a glorious summer thus far! I've just returned to LA after an epic journey that began in June at the Glastonbury music fest in England (amazing!!), spent a couple weeks in London, hung out in Indiana a couple weeks to soak up home and spend time with the fam, hit the Pitchfork fest in Chicago, and even got to spend a little time in Colorado. Amazing adventure, lots of inspiration!

I'm  really excited to be back in LA and making music with Caliana again. We've got a new drummer, Mr. Simon Hancock! Emil, Simon and I have been throwing down and sweating it out in the rehearsal studio as a trio, working on new tunes and tweaking old ones. Our brother Bird is currently overseas playing bass with The Bell Rays. When he returns in September we'll finally be a 4-piece again and looking for trouble! We'll keep you posted on events as they unfold. Looking forward to playing some shows this fall and getting back in the studio. Stay tuned. Stay Glorious. Cheers & Love!!

Wacko Maria Shoot

I just did a 3-day photo shoot with Japanese clothing company Wacko Maria. Among other places, we shot in a strip club, a shady pool hall, some old burnt out warehouses, and the streets of LA. Lots of suits, boots, hats, and jewelry... good times!

Caliana @ Room 5 April 30th

Attention LA peeps... Emil and I will be performing an intimate set at Room 5 on Saturday April 30th. It's an early show, we take the stage at 7pm sharp. We'll be playing stripped down versions of songs from our recent "Blood, Sweat & Beers" EP as well as revisiting a handful of tunes from my solo album Bring On The Burden. Might even test out a couple newbies! See you there!!

Caliana w/ Ha Ha Tonka and Hoots & Hellmouth @ Hotel Cafe March 24th!!

We are very excited to announce that Ha Ha Tonka has invited us to join them along with Hoots & Hellmouth at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles Thursday, March 24th. We'd be going to this show even if we weren't playing, both bands are super awesome. So mark your calendars and spread the good word, it's gonna be a great show!!!!

In the studio with Jimmy Paxson...

we just wrapped up recording another batch of four songs with our good friend Jimmy Paxson, an amazingly talented drummer who has toured and recorded with everyone from Stanley Clarke and Edgar Winter to Stevie Nicks and Alanis Morissette. he'll be joining Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart on their Heart & Soul tour this spring! Jimmy is a total sweetheart and a blast to work with. he's also an avid angler and he keeps as much fishing gear in his north hollywood studio as he does drum sets (lots and lots of both). huge thanks to JP for tearing up some skins for us!

glorious times in the midwest...

howdy everyone... caliana is back in LA after a glorious run of midwest shows... we all had such a blast, super good times, huge thanks to all the people who came out and partied with us!! we kicked things off at The Basement in good old Nashville, TN and performed for a fun and rowdy crowd. got to party with our homies American Bang, always a good time. The Basement is located underneath one of the dopest independent record stores in the USA, Grimey's New & Preloved Music, and it happens to be the first record store to carry our new EP!! we are stoked and flattered. After Nashville we headed way up north to me and bird's hometown of Michigan City, IN to play Ryan's Pub (see pic below). we were totally blown away by the crowd. they had to turn people away at the door, couldn't fit anyone else in the joint. the only downside was that it was extremely difficult to move, let alone hit the bar or make it to the bathrooms. might need to find a bigger room next time! MC knows how to partay!! we rounded out the run with our annual Holiday Extravaganza in Indianapolis, IN at Local's Only with our good friends Blue Moon Revue and Genius Johnson. it was another packed house filled with so many glorious and celebratory peeps. old friends and many new faces in the crowd. sooo much fun, can't wait to do it again next year...
